At least 38 people have been died due to dengue fever in Delhi since August and the number of patients down with the vector-borne fever is 7,606. According to the report of Delhi Municipal Corporation, on the vector-bone disease released on October 6, 2015, at least 1,624 fresh dengue cases were reported in the last one week. But doctors said there has been a slump in cases in the past two weeks. "While our dengue ward is full of suspected dengue cases, less than 2-3 per cent of the patients we tested are positive for dengue now," said a doctor at Lok Nayak hospital in Delhi.

According to the report of Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi has recorded the highest number of dengue cases at 1.923 while south Delhi recorded 1,960 and east Delhi posted the lowest with 1,011 cases. Of all civic zones in the city, Najafgarh Zone has recorded the highest number with 675 cases. 1,036 people diagnosed with the disease came from outside of Delhi.

The Delhi Municipal Corporation, complies the report on the vector-borne diseases in the city on behalf of all civic bodies, which includes dengue, malaria and other fever related diseses.

Delhi Health Minister Mr. Satyendar Jain told the media on October 5th, that, the dengue scare has not come to an end so far but assured that government has made sufficient arranagements in its all hospitals to fight the vector-borne disease and that the situtation is under control and there is no need to be panic due to spurt in dengue cases in the national capital. He said the dengue scare will continue for the next one month in case the winter season doesn't approach soon. "We should not focus on numbers of dengue cases as the situation is under control. If the winter season doesn't approach soon, it is likely that the dengue scare will continue for one month," the minister said.
