NEWS & EVENTS / October 23-24, 2009 // Ambassador Mohamed Sultan Abdalla Al Owais visited Kolkata, West Bengal, from 23rd to 24th October 2009. The main objective of the visit was to promote trade and to build relations with leading Indian companies and to promote UAE as the preferred destination for Indian investment.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized an interactive session with the Ambassador on the business and investment opportunities. Ambassador addressed the business gathering that consisted of leading businessmen in the region. The interactive session was attended by over 20 companies including the media. The ambassador's visit was well covered in the local and national media.
The Ambassador also met with ITC Ltd. and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Niche investment opportunities and areas of mutual cooperation were identified during the meetings.
He said, "Today, the meeting of DIFC is activating a new potential and this conference will provide opportunities to the bankers, financial institutions and industry to understand each other better."
The DIFC delegation was headed by HE Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre and Vice Chairman of the UAE Central Bank. HE Mr Vayalar Ravi, Minister for Overseas Indians and Mr Kamal Nath, Minister of Road Transport and Highways also addressed the conference. |
