UAE Assistant Minister meets Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India

October 26, 2016. H.E. Mohammed Sharaf, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation paid a courtesy call to Mr. Shakti Kantha Das, Secretary - Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

During the meeting, both discussed issues of mutual cooperation in field of economic, trade development and investment among others.

H.E. Mohammed Sharaf described the upcoming visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces as a Chief Guest of India’s Republic Day 2017 as a Historic visit. He highlighted that this is a second visit of H.H. Crown prince of Abu Dhabi in less than one year time, which is a testimonial of UAE-India thriving bilateral relations.

Mr. Shakti Kantha Das invited UAE participation and investment in recently constituted National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) by the Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pensions Funds. He said that the investment in NIIF will ensure good returns on investment as the Government will invest these funds in infrastructure projects.

Regarding investments, the UAE Assistant Minister noted that the different institutions in UAE have already made a number of investments in infrastructure and other sectors. He reiterated that the different agencies of UAE will continue their efforts at widening their relationship with India in this regard.

The visiting UAE Assistant Minister also raised the few of UAE companies pending issues in India. The Indian side assured the conclusion of the pending issues in shortest possible time.

The two sides also explored the possibilities of joint investment projects in the UAE and India, as well as joint investment projects in third countries and to pool resources and expertise in the development of infrastructure in third countries.
