UAE ASSISTANT MINISTER MEETS SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM & NATURAL GAS, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
October 25, 2016. H.E. Mohammed Sharaf, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation called on Hon’ble Secretary of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Kapil Dev Tripathi to discuss current stage of bilateral Energy relations between UAE and India and perspectives of their future development. H.E. Dr. Ahmed A.R. Albanna, Ambassador of the UAE to India accompanied the UAE Assistant Minister for the meeting.
During his discussions H.E. Mohammed Sharaf acknowledged the importance of energy sector as a central pillar of UAE-India economic relationship and noted the increasing bilateral trade in this sector in past years.
UAE is one of the top Crude oil supplier to India. UAE supplying nearly 8% of Indian crude imports. India imported 15.7 MMT of crude oil from UAE in financial year 2015-16. It was 16.1 MMT in 2014-15.
Joint statement Between UAE-India during the Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Visit in August 2015 says: “Promote strategic partnership in the energy sector, including through UAE’s participation in India in the development of strategic petroleum reserves, upstream and downstream petroleum sectors, and collaboration in third countries.”
After the meeting UAE Ambassador H.E. Dr. Ahmed A.R. Albanna said "It was a very good meeting which noted high level of convergence and allowed us to plan specific actions to take our positive relationship for even a higher level.
