UAE AMBASSADOR H.E. DR. ALBANNA ALSO MET
THE PRIME MINISTER LYONCHHEN TSHERING TOBGAYEM AND AMB. KESANG WANGDI, DIRECTOR,
DEPARTMENT OF BILATERAL AFFAIRS

The meetings highlighted the friendly and mutually enriching partnership between the UAE and Bhutan and attached the importance to the mutual visits on a high level. Within this positive context, a wide range of initiatives aimed strengthening bilateral relations, including trade, investment, energy, environment, culture, education and people-to-people contacts were discussed. The sides also exchanged thoughts on issues related to cooperation on regional and global levels, such as Bhutan´s accession to the World Trade Organization and cooperation within South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

During his meeting with Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Hon’ble Prime Minister at Gyelyong Tshogkhang, Ambassador Dr. AlBanna conveyed the regards of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and expressed the need to further strengthen the relations between two counties .

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said that there are many areas to learn from UAE & agreed to work together in sectors where Bhutan & UAE are individually strong.

Ambassador Dr. AlBanna appreciated the all achievements Bhutan has made to preserve its heritage, cultural identity and environment. He equally appreciated progress made to date to put Bhutan on the path of political stability, all-inclusive economic growth and graduation from least-developed country status.

The United Arab Emirates is the 42nd country with which Bhutan has established diplomatic relations. UAE is the 3rd country in the Middle East with which Bhutan has diplomatic ties.
