New Delhi | January 16, 2017

New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) held for the past 44 years, is now a major calendar event in the publishing world. The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, working towards promotion of books and the habit of reading in the country.

On  Saturday, 7th  January  2016 , the New Delhi Book Fair was formally inaugurated in a ceremony attended by various dignitaries. The Chief Guest for the event was  Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Honourable Minister of State for Human Resource.  Along with him, were Dr. Ahmed Albanna, His Excellency the Ambassador of UAE To India,  H.E. Tomasz kozlowvki,  Hon’ble Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to India, Mrs. Shubra Singh, Executive Director, ITPO, Mr. Baldev Bhai Sharma- Chairman National Book Trust and many others.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Pragati Maidan. The inauguration started at 11 am with the speeches from the distinguished dignitaries speaking about the Book Fair and about their associations.

Chief Guest, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey then took the stage, thanking all the organizers of the Book Fair for once again putting together this annual extravaganza.

He said “Books were imperative in the past, they are imperative at present and will remain imperative in future also.”

H.E. Dr Ahmed Albanna said “The essence of reading cannot be replaced and how inspired he is to be part of it.”
