Mr. Nirvikar Jain, Chief Representative, First Gulf Bank - India Office called on His Excellency Saed Al Mheiri, Minister Plenipotentiary and Charge D’ Affairs, Embassy of UAE, to discuss formation of UAE - India Business Council (UIBC).

During the meeting, Mr Jain informed His Excellency Al Mheiri about his discussion with other UAE companies in Mumbai to form the Business Council. They all are agreed in principle to form the Business Council in earliest possible time.

His Excellency Al Mheiri, for his part, assured his support and assistance to the proposed Business Council. Mr Jain suggests the next UAE-India business Meet in Mumbai in third or fourth week of March. H.E. AlMheiri expressed his consent on this. The Office of the proposed Business Council will be in New Delhi and the cost will be bear jointly by the member companies.

The proposed UAE - India Business Council (UIBC) is envisaged to be a non-government organization that will serve as a link between the business communities of India and the UAE. This industry-led and industry-managed Council would be committed to the development of India-UAE business and trade relations.

The main objective behind initiative for forming UIBC is to promote bilateral trade, investment, facilitate business collaborations, joint ventures, marketing tie-ups and strategic alliances through a set of proactive business-oriented activities.

The UAE Trade Office was also present during the meeting.
