The Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu today held a breakfast briefing at hotel Claridges organised by India Foundation with a view to give a fillip to the Commerce & Industry Sector.

Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India briefed about Indian Economy and Trade. He also stressed on the importance of growth and assured working together will enhance competencies and the need to tap into the global value chain, which would provide fillip to the country’s efforts to enhance exports. The meeting also provided inputs  on strategy focusing on integrating India into the Regional/Global Value Chain, focus on high and medium technology sectors of exports, revisiting the focus area approach and unleashing the potential of services such as tourism, professional services and e-Commerce.  He also mentioned that one single change in the law made simple was unthinkable and unimaginable, as the major challenge for growth of industries and trades was taxes. Though some were criticising GST, their coming together for shaping such a reform was commendable. He termed the Goods and Services Tax as a great unifying factor, both in societal and political spheres in the country. Many  options and suggestions were proposed to overcome  challenges during briefing. The Minister concluded & underlined the emergence of India as one of the world's leading investment destination.
