Ms. Verma explained to the Ambassador that the Vibrant Gujarat Summit was conceptualized in 2003 by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, to re-establish Gujarat as a preferred investment destination within India. Today, the Summit has evolved into a platform for brainstorming on agendas of global socio-economic development, in addition to being a facilitator for knowledge sharing and forging effective partnerships.
Ms. Verma informed the Ambassador that last year, 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, held in January 2017, witnessed participation from 25,000+ delegates from 100+ countries, including 4 Heads of States, Nobel Laureates, Captains of global industry and Thought Leaders. And UAE being a partner country has opened doors for lot of avenues. She further commended the achievements of leading UAE companies investing in India reflected the swift development of economic relations between the two countries.
She further explained that the 9th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit that is happening from the 18th to 20th of January 2019 at Mahatma Mandir, Gujarat provides ideas to enhance livability in smart cities. To make our cities smart and smarter is a prime necessity today, not only to enhance livability but to also create more growth opportunities for our youth. The 9th edition of the Summit will also witness the launch of a completely new set of forums aimed at diversifying the nature of knowledge sharing at the Summit, and intensifying the level of networking between participants.
H.E. Dr. Albanna said Indo-UAE relations have reached an extraordinary level of friendship and bonhomie between both the Ministers has developed deep personal rapport, as was on display during their meetings. The two sides have been working to realize the goals of forging a strong strategic partnership through regular exchange of visits, improve bilateral trade and investments, greater understanding of security concerns and vulnerabilities and readiness to harness on the momentum created due to greater political understanding.
And the high level UAE delegation participation last year as a partner country in 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit further opened the doors for lot of opportunities and way forward to discuss cooperative and investment opportunities in a number of areas, most notably manufacturing, innovation and technology, small and medium enterprises, renewable energy, and tourism, among others.
He further added that invitation for UAE to be partner country again next year is indicative of their rapidly growing bilateral economic relationship. Since both the countries are driven by deep and strategic economic ties and common interests and visions in many development sectors. He also referred to their countries’ close social and cultural bonds.
He concluded by adding that the bilateral relations between the UAE and India are unique and distinctive, following its long history and strong ties based on mutual respect and common interests. Events like these will further enhance them. |
